Irish engineering design and commercial advisory firm Insight Marine has launched in County Wicklow, according to Maritime Professional, targeting growing demand for specialist technical and commercial support across offshore wind, subsea transmission and marine infrastructure markets in Ireland, the UK, Europe and internationally.

The company was founded by Paul Doherty, who brings more than two decades of experience in offshore wind, subsea cable installation and port redevelopment projects. Doherty previously founded engineering consultancy GDG, which specialised in offshore wind and marine infrastructure before its acquisition by Venterra Group in 2021. He subsequently served as Venterra's chief commercial and growth officer before establishing Insight Marine.

The firm is positioned to serve offshore wind developers, transmission system operators, port owners, investors, contractors and supply-chain companies operating in marine environments. Its service offering spans offshore wind developments, subsea transmission and cable projects, ports and harbours, marine civil infrastructure, environmental and regulatory advisory, decommissioning, expert witness work and forensic engineering.

Technical capabilities include offshore foundation analysis, subsea cable assessment, finite element modelling, marine infrastructure evaluation and design support for offshore and coastal assets. The company said it has already secured assignments across ports and harbours, marine technology, offshore decommissioning advisory, expert witness services and forensic engineering.

Doherty said: "Marine and offshore projects are becoming more complex, more commercially exposed and more challenging to deliver. Insight Marine has been established to help clients cut through that complexity. We combine engineering depth with commercial insight so developers, ports, TSOs and supply-chain companies can make better decisions and reduce project risk."

The launch reflects sustained demand for specialist engineering and advisory capability in the offshore wind and marine infrastructure sectors, where project scale, technical complexity and commercial risk continue to increase as developers advance large-scale transmission and offshore energy programmes across European and international waters.

The company's dual focus on engineering design and commercial advisory positions it to support clients at multiple stages of the project lifecycle, from early-stage feasibility and regulatory engagement through to construction delivery and post-completion forensic review.
