Irish water and wastewater engineering company Glanua has appointed Conor Gilligan as managing director of its Municipal Ireland and UK division, according to Irish Building Magazine, as the company moves to strengthen leadership across its public sector water infrastructure operations at a time of growing demand and funding in both markets.

Gilligan brings more than 35 years of experience in the construction sector, including almost two decades as global chief executive of Roadbridge Civil Engineering Contractors. In his new role, he will lead Glanua's design, development, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater projects for public authorities across Ireland and the UK.

Gilligan said: "There is increasing demand and funding for the water and wastewater infrastructure, particularly in the public sector. As an industry leader, Glanua is well positioned to address this urgent and critical need, assisting our valued clients in Ireland and the UK in designing, developing, operating and maintaining high-quality, innovative and sustainable engineering solutions. I look forward to working with our talented teams to continue delivering for our clients and to build on the strong foundations already in place."

Karl Zimmerer, group managing director at Glanua, said Gilligan brings "a wealth of experience and expertise in the delivery, development and operation of complex engineering and infrastructure projects," as well as a proven track record in managing companies across multiple sectors and serving a diverse client base.

A native of Co. Clare, Gilligan graduated from University College Cork before building his career in the construction industry. His appointment positions Glanua to accelerate delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure for public clients as investment in the sector continues to grow across both jurisdictions.

Glanua specialises in the design, build and maintenance of critical water and wastewater infrastructure, serving public authorities through both long-term contracts and capital project delivery across Ireland and the UK. The appointment of an experienced managing director at divisional level reflects the scale of opportunity the company sees across both markets in the years ahead.
