Ethos Engineering has strengthened its engineering footprint in digital infrastructure following the acquisition of UK-based technology design consultancy 3DEC, bringing specialist ICT engineering capability directly into its core service offering.

Headquartered in Dublin and backed by private equity firm Exponent, Ethos Engineering is recognised for its work in sustainable data centre design across EMEA. The acquisition of 3DEC adds more than 40 engineers and embeds advanced ICT design expertise across mission-critical environments including data centres, commercial workplaces and educational facilities.

The transaction marks Ethos’ second strategic acquisition since mid-2024 and follows a period of rapid growth for the business. Over the past year, Ethos has expanded revenue, increased headcount to 259 employees, opened offices in the UK and the Netherlands, and recently moved into a new purpose-built headquarters in Dublin.

The addition of 3DEC further scales its engineering resources as demand for resilient, high-performance digital infrastructure accelerates.

ICT systems design is increasingly central to the delivery of hyperscale and co-location data centres, where uptime, scalability and integration with mechanical and electrical systems are critical. By internalising 3DEC’s capabilities, Ethos positions itself to deliver more tightly integrated engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle.

Greg Hayden, chief executive of Ethos Engineering, said: “We know the team at 3DEC well and have worked with them on many projects over the last six years, integrating them into our team as an extension of our service offering. Throughout this time, it’s been very clear that we share a similar culture, focused on excellence and innovation for clients. Bringing their expertise in-house will help us to enhance our offering and accelerate the delivery of projects.”
