Vertiv, the US-based parent company of one of Inishowen’s largest employers, has announced a $1 billion acquisition of PurgeRite Intermediate LLC, a leading provider of mechanical flushing, purging, and filtration services for data centres and mission-critical facilities. The deal follows Vertiv’s 2021 purchase of E&I Engineering from Philip O’Doherty and represents a strategic expansion of the company’s capabilities in thermal management services.
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, PurgeRite has established a reputation for expertise in fluid management and filtration solutions for high-density computing environments. The acquisition enables Vertiv to integrate PurgeRite’s specialised services with its existing liquid cooling offerings, delivering comprehensive thermal management solutions from facility-level operations down to room, row, and rack configurations.
Gio Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv, emphasised that the addition of PurgeRite deepens the company’s fluid management capabilities and strengthens its ability to provide end-to-end support for customers’ high-performance computing and AI applications, where efficient thermal management is critical to operational reliability and performance.
Vertiv’s Burnfoot plant employs more than 1,000 people, and the acquisition underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to expanding both its technical capabilities and its global leadership in next-generation thermal chain services.
By combining Vertiv’s existing portfolio with PurgeRite’s mechanical expertise, the company positions itself to meet the growing demand for robust, mission-critical infrastructure solutions across data centres worldwide.
The acquisition reinforces Vertiv’s strategic focus on innovation, operational excellence, and scalable service offerings, ensuring customers can achieve optimal performance and reliability in increasingly complex computing environments.
