Pilot Crushtec International has appointed OnTrax Equipment as its distribution agent for mainland UK and South West Crushers as its agent for the Republic of Ireland, marking a re-entry into both markets after a 15-year absence; this is a distributor appointment, not a transaction, and no deal consideration or counterparty arises.

Pilot Crushtec International (Pty) Ltd is a privately owned South African manufacturer of mobile and semi-mobile crushing, screening and material handling equipment, founded in 1990, headquartered at Jet Park, Boksburg, Gauteng, with approximately 93 employees and annual revenue estimated at $25.8 million (€23.6 million). Its primary export product for the UK and Ireland is the TwisterTrac vertical shaft impact (VSI) crusher range.

OnTrax Equipment is a UK-based distributor of diesel-electric hybrid crushing and screening equipment. South West Crushers is an Irish distributor led by founder-operator Larry Collins, with service technicians positioned across Ireland. Pilot Crushtec previously had more than 35 machines operating across the UK and Ireland before the 2008 financial crisis halted exports. Advisors: none mentioned.

The structural driver is Stage V off-road emissions regulation, which took effect across the EU and UK in 2019 and 2020 for new machines above 130kW. Pilot Crushtec spent the following decade redeveloping its TwisterTrac range to comply with Stage V before it could legally supply machines to Tier 5-regulated markets. The distributor appointments are therefore not a new market entry but a regulatory re-admission after more than a decade of product development to meet compliance requirements the original machine range could not satisfy.

The Irish market angle is the more commercially distinctive of the two appointments. South West Crushers' managing director Larry Collins identifies manufactured sand and specialist aggregate production as the primary demand drivers, citing a structural shortage of natural sand in Ireland that is creating durable market demand for VSI crusher technology. Irish aggregate producers have faced tightening reserves of natural fine aggregate for over a decade, and the manufactured sand application, where VSI technology converts quarried rock into specification sand, directly addresses that constraint.

For Irish construction, which faces substantial infrastructure pipeline demand from Project Ireland 2040, data centre development and residential delivery programmes, domestic aggregate specification flexibility is a live procurement issue rather than a niche quarrying interest.
