Toome-headquartered P McVey Building Systems has hired James Scullion, a finance specialist with two decades across engineering and manufacturing, as Commercial and Finance Director. The appointment gives the family-owned offsite manufacturer sharper commercial capability as it consolidates into a single, larger facility and targets major framework contracts across the UK and Ireland.
Scullion most recently spent almost eight years as finance director at Hutchinson Engineering, and his background spans scaling operations, managing complex supply chains and supporting growth in high-precision manufacturing. He joins as P McVey marks 40 years in business, following 400 per cent growth over the past five years.
Founded in 1986 by Pat McVey, the family-owned business designs, manufactures and installs modular facilities for the education, healthcare and commercial sectors across the UK and Ireland. The company states that its permanent-quality buildings can be delivered up to 50 per cent faster than traditional construction.
Adrian McVey, Operations Director at P McVey Building Systems, said: "The momentum behind modular construction is undeniable." McVey added: "He brings a deep understanding of high-precision engineering and a sharp commercial edge that will be invaluable as we secure major framework contracts and expand our footprint across the UK and Irish markets."
The structural driver is growing buyer preference for offsite manufacture as traditional builds contend with persistent delays, rising material costs and capacity constraints, particularly across healthcare and education. P McVey is expanding factory capacity through a consolidated headquarters to absorb that demand.
James Scullion said: "Off-site construction is no longer a temporary alternative; it is rapidly becoming the primary choice for modern, sustainable infrastructure." Scullion added: "My priority will be to build on the firm's 40 year legacy, sharpen our commercial engine, and deliver seamless, high-value space solutions for our growing client base."
For the sector, the appointment pairs financial leadership from engineering with factory expansion at a firm positioning for large framework contracts across Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.
