One Point Zero has been shortlisted last year in the Mechanical Engineering Project of the Year — Small category at the Engineering Excellence Awards 2025, put forward for ClimateFlow, a plug-and-play heat recovery system that delivered substantial energy and carbon reductions for retail environments during a real-world commercial trial.

Developed as a practical response to the energy inefficiencies inherent in conventional retail store heating and cooling setups, ClimateFlow captures and redistributes heat that would otherwise be lost, eliminating the need for a separate heating system entirely.

A trial conducted with a leading convenience retailer produced an energy consumption reduction of over 80 percent and an annual carbon saving of between 10 and 20 tonnes of CO₂ — outcomes that moved the technology decisively from promising concept to evidenced commercial solution.

The Mechanical Engineering Project of the Year — Small category evaluates entries on the quality of engineering design, the clarity of the problem being addressed, the innovation embedded in the solution, and the measurable results achieved. One Point Zero's shortlisting reflects the judging panel's view that ClimateFlow represented a technically rigorous and commercially credible response to a challenge facing retail operators across Ireland and beyond.

Central to ClimateFlow's appeal is its accessibility. By designing the system for straightforward installation without the need for significant infrastructure changes, One Point Zero ensured that the energy and carbon benefits it delivers are available to retailers without the operational disruption typically associated with building services upgrades.

That combination of performance and practicality strengthened the submission's case before the judges.
