John Sisk & Son has completed its acquisition of Farrans Construction and all 625 employees from CRH, in a deal that strengthens Sisk’s position as a leading force in the UK and Irish construction markets. The transaction, finalised following approval from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), will see both companies continue operating independently under their respective brands. The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed.

Farrans, a Northern Ireland-based building and civil engineering contractor, is renowned for delivering complex infrastructure projects across aviation, water, energy and utilities. The acquisition brings together two well-established firms with complementary expertise, unlocking new opportunities for large-scale infrastructure delivery across Ireland and the UK.

Sisk, Ireland’s largest construction and civil engineering company, sees this move as a strategic investment to broaden its sectoral reach and enhance its capability to meet growing demand in the renewable energy, transport and utility sectors. The company operates across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe, with an expanding portfolio of projects that align with national infrastructure priorities.

Paul Brown, CEO of Sisk, described the acquisition as a milestone that strengthens the company’s operational depth. “The acquisition of Farrans represents an excellent opportunity for Sisk to broaden its sectoral reach across the UK and Ireland. Their strong reputation and track record in delivering complex infrastructure projects align well with our strategic growth ambitions,” he said.

Farrans Managing Director Dominic Lavery welcomed the move, noting that the company’s people, culture and brand will be retained. “This is a positive development for Farrans, and we believe Sisk is the right strategic fit for our business,” he added.
