Irish engineering consultancy IN2 has acquired London-based YES Engineering, forming a combined international team of more than 100 people. The deal strengthens IN2's engineering capacity as demand grows for data centre and decarbonisation projects across Europe.
The acquisition combines IN2's engineering resources with YES Engineering's established commercial-sector expertise and international client base. The move strengthens IN2's presence and capacity in London, while giving the YES team access to the wider resources of the IN2 Group.
The combined business is supported by specialist expertise across CFD analysis, building physics, planning consultancy, sustainability and whole-life carbon. IN2 said a key opportunity is growing demand for sophisticated engineering solutions across digital infrastructure and data centres, alongside the transition to lower-carbon buildings.
Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Ireland, IN2 is a MEP, energy and sustainability consultancy that has grown into an increasingly international operation, with offices in Dublin, London, Berlin, Belfast and Athlone. Prior to the acquisition, IN2 had delivered projects including a 30MW data centre refurbishment in West London, the 1Energy district heating project in Bradford, and a decarbonisation programme in Norfolk.
YES Engineering, based in London, provides MEP and structural design consultancy across the commercial, educational, residential and leisure sectors. The firm has an established international track record, having completed projects across the UK and Europe, including Luxembourg, Vienna and Zurich for a major multinational client, alongside work in 22 countries across three continents.
IN2 CEO Barry Flynn said: "The acquisition is a core part of IN2's international growth strategy, combining targeted acquisitions with organic expansion. Beyond Ireland and the UK, IN2 operates in Berlin and is preparing for further strategic expansion into the data centre, energy and infrastructure sectors in Spain and Portugal, planned for 2027."
The structural driver is rising international demand for engineering consultancies capable of delivering large, technically complex data centre and decarbonisation programmes. IN2 brings project experience on hyperscale data centre schemes in London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt, supported by in-house CFD modelling and mechanical and electrical design.
Greg Parker, Director at YES Engineering, said: "Clients are seeking to deliver larger and more technically complex programmes across multiple markets. Combining the expertise and experience of YES Engineering with IN2 makes perfect sense, as we can present stronger multidisciplinary teams that can support projects internationally." For the sector, the acquisition adds engineering capacity and international client relationships as demand grows for complex, cross-border building services projects.
