Dutch geo-data specialist Fugro has secured a seven-year contract with EirGrid to map Ireland’s seabed as part of the “Powering Up Offshore” project, a key initiative supporting the country’s offshore wind ambitions.

Fugro will conduct comprehensive marine surveys—geophysical, geotechnical, and environmental—across complex zones along the south coast. The resulting data will inform the design and placement of offshore substations and export cables.

Deploying vessels Seeker and Kommander Iona, along with jack-up barges and drones, Fugro aims to accelerate safe and sustainable wind energy development, contributing to Ireland’s goal of achieving 80% renewable electricity by 2030—including 5GW from offshore wind.

Full operations are set to begin later this month. Read full article here.
