Northern Ireland engineering consultancy AM Consulting Engineers has acquired UK civil and structural engineering firm Bridges Pound Ltd, a move that doubles its workforce to 40 and enhances expertise across civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering.
The acquisition positions AM Consulting Engineers to expand more aggressively across Great Britain.
Established in 2021, AM Consulting Engineers was the first company to complete Invest NI’s Ambition to Grow Programme in 2023, creating six new jobs and developing an export plan. Since then, it has broadened its services to include structural and geotechnical engineering, delivering projects across water, wastewater, transportation, building, and infrastructure sectors.
The deal follows AM Consulting Engineers’ recent relocation to new headquarters at Jennymount Business Park, Belfast, supporting planned staff growth in the city and expansion in its Cork office.
Coventry-based Bridges Pound Ltd has operated for over 40 years, delivering civil and structural projects for developers, contractors, and local authorities. Its portfolio includes major infrastructure, education, and hotel projects in Central London and across the University of Warwick campus programme.
AM Consulting Engineers Managing Director Aidan McCarthy explained that the acquisition strengthens the company’s technical capabilities while accelerating expansion in the GB market. He highlighted that the integration of Bridges Pound’s experienced team and project portfolio enhances the expertise offered to clients across complex infrastructure, education, and building projects. McCarthy noted that the move reinforces the firm’s commitment to sustainable growth, technical excellence, job creation, and export-led development.
Bridges Pound Managing Director Stuart Heaton added that joining forces with AM Consulting Engineers combines complementary skills and supports continued delivery of high-quality engineering services, enabling both firms to pursue future growth opportunities in civil and structural engineering.
